El billete azul
The Blue Bill

Alba is eight, and today her mom sends her to the bakery alone for the first time, with a blue bill folded in her pocket. Doña Lina counts out the change, hears the oven buzzer and runs to the back, leaving the register drawer wide open. The blue bill is sitting right on top. Alba is alone in the shop, and nobody on the street is looking in.
A story about honesty that nobody is there to check.
Words to listen for: panadería (bakery), vuelto (change), cajón (drawer), caja registradora (cash register).
